Coming Up...
Freshman Retreat VOLUNTEERSSummer is quickly approaching, which means that our annual Freshman Retreat is coming up soon! This retreat is a one-day retreat to welcome next year's Freshman class into the Ignite High School Ministry! In order to do this, we need lots of help from both adults and current high schoolers! The retreat is only one day, but it involves a lot of preparation for things like skits, talks, supplies, games, etc. We need teens and adults to work together to make these amazing things a reality. "This retreat is the best retreat at Spirit of Christ! Helping with it as a high school helper is even more fun than attending as one of the incoming Freshman! It's the best day!" - Past High School Helpers, probably. Ok, while the above quote is made up, the sentiment isn't. Many have said things like this to me over the years. High schoolers who help with this retreat have an incredible time. There are a lot of laughs, inside jokes, and yes, work. But the work is fun and worth every minute! We also need adults to help out during the day of the retreat, but also at our meetings. The teens run most of the activities, but we still need adults present for safety. You can just sit back and relax as the high schoolers run the show! It's a lot of fun for the adults, too, who are able to participate more than usual and really just have fun! We have preparation meetings on the following days: April 27, Noon-2:00 pm May 18, 5:45-8:45 pm May 25, 5:45-8:45 pm June 1, 5:45-8:45 pm June 7, TBD The retreat is on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Leaders must arrive at 8:00 am to finish set up and to pray and to practice a few last-minute things. We will go until around 9:15 pm. |
Steubenville of the Rockies Pre-Registration
THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SIGN UP! You will need to fill out an official liability form when the Diocese makes them available to us. This form is required to pre-register and secure your spot.
Spots are limited and will be given on a first-come, first-served basis for those with completed pre-registrations and deposits.
When is it?
This year's conference will be July 25-27, 2025 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort.
How Much Will It Cost?
Registration costs $200 and includes two nights at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, a conference t-shirt, four meals, and admittance to the conference. A deposit of $50 is required by March 31, 2025, to hold your spot. Complete payments won't be due until June 1, 2025.
Who is allowed to attend?
All high school-aged students are invited! Because this is a summer event, though, that does take a little bit of explanation.
This is a summer event, which means that incoming 9th graders are invited to attend (in other words, current 8th graders). It is so exciting when incoming 9th graders attend because they usually make great friends, bond with others, and begin their high school careers with this huge blessing, igniting their hearts with the love of God! I encourage incoming freshmen to attend!
Also, graduates from the class of 2025 are invited to attend! We want to send them off to life after high school with this amazing experience, hearts ablaze! Please remember that graduates are still participating as group members. Even though they are "legal adults," they will be expected to follow the same rules and standards as everyone else in the group. We do not have a "I'm an adult, I can do what I want" policy.
Obviously, everyone in between those two groups is in high school, too!
Who are the speakers?
This year, we have a star-studded group of presenters, with Chris Padgett, Laura Wright, Brian Greenfield, Katie Hartfield, and Father Fernando Camou. You're not going to want to miss out on this amazing team!
How Do We Pre-Register?
Use the link below to pre-register! Pre-registration closes on March 31, 2025. You may sign up multiple teens on this form.

Meet the Core Team

Meet Krissy Jensen. Krissy is the Director of Youth Ministry at Spirit of Christ and has been working in the Youth Ministry here since 2007. Krissy has been a part of the Spirit of Christ Community her entire faith life. Krissy's favorite Saints are Saint Terese of Lisieux and Pope Saint John Paul II. Krissy graduated from CU Boulder with a degree in English and has her Certificate in Youth Ministry from the Franciscan University of Steubenville through the Augustine Institute. She loves to run, she loves her dog, and she loves Nutella and bacon! Come to Ignite on Sunday nights to get to know her better! Click here to read her Catholic blog: http://krissykandid.blogspot.com/

Meet Mary Ann Mahoney. Mary Ann has been part of the Core Team since 2001. She has been at Spirit of Christ since the 1980's, until Fr. Ken convinced her to go to China. Two of her favorite Saints are St. Augustine and St. Hilarius (for who her car is named). After six years in China and a journey back to SOC, she became involved with youth ministry and can't seem to leave because spending time with amazing teens and watching them grow closer to Jesus is the best way to start a new week. During the week, Mary Ann teaches first grade and manages data and assessment at a school in Denver. Whenever possible, she spends time with her nieces and nephews. She loves laughing, traveling, cupcakes, things that are pink and/or sparkly and all forms of chocolate (FYI - white chocolate is not chocolate). Her special skills are dish washing, dessert making and fun fonts. Come to Ignite to meet Mary Ann!
